Hattusas: Lion Gate
Boğazköy, (Turkish: “Gorge Village”) modern Boğazkale, also spelled Boghazkeui, village, north-central Turkey. Located 17 miles (27 km) northwest of Yozgat, it is the site of the archaeological remains of Hattusas (Hattusa, Hattusha, or Khattusas), the ancient capital of the Hittites, who established a powerful empire in Anatolia and northern Syria in the 2nd millennium bce.
