Eye Disease

eye disease, any of the diseases or disorders that affect the human eye.

This article briefly describes the more common diseases of the eye and its associated structures, the methods used in examination and diagnosis, and the factors that determine treatment and prognosis. The first part deals with conditions affecting the orbit, lids, and external eye, and the second focuses on diseases of structures within the eyeball, or globe. Later sections deal with injuries, ocular conditions associated with systemic disease, disorders of vision, methods of examining the eye, and devices for correcting visual defects.
