Giuseppe Farina, byname Nino, (born 1906, Turin, Italy—died June 30, 1966, near Chambéry, Fr.), Italian automobile racing driver who was the first to win the world driving championship according to the modern point system.
Farina, the holder of a doctorate in engineering, was the Italian driving champion in 1937, 1938, and 1939. He won the world title in 1950 while driving for Alfa Romeo. He was killed in a road accident.
