Hopbush

hopbush, common name for certain tropical and subtropical bushes and trees of the genus Dodonaea, within the soapberry family (Sapindaceae), in particular D. viscosa—also called akeake—a widely distributed shrub or small tree. D. viscosa grows to about 4.5 metres (15 feet) tall and is somewhat resistant to drought and smog. The inconspicuous flowers grow in terminal clusters.
