Koforidua, town, southeastern Ghana. It lies in the Densu River basin, near the southeastern base of the Kwahu Plateau.

Koforidua is one of the country’s oldest cocoa-producing centres. With the completion in 1923 of the railway between Accra and Kumasi, it became an important road and rail junction. As cocoa production moved westward to areas of virgin soil, Koforidua became increasingly dependent upon its commercial and administrative functions. The town has only minor industries. Pop. (2000) 87,315; (2010) 120,971.
