Lepus, (Latin: “Hare”) constellation in the southern sky at about 6 hours right ascension and 20° south in declination. Its brightest star is Arneb (from the Arabic for “the hare”), with a magnitude of 2.6. To the ancient Greeks this constellation represented the quarry of the hunter (and neighbouring constellation) Orion.
