Łódzkie, Polish in full Województwo Łódzkie, województwo (province), central Poland. It is bordered by six provinces: Kujawsko-Pomorskie to the north, Mazowieckie to the east, Świętokrzyskie to the southeast, Śląskie to the south, Opolskie to the southwest, and Wielkopolskie to the west. It was formed in 1999—when the 49 provinces first established in 1975 were realigned into 16—and is made up of the former provinces of Łódź, Piotrków, and Sieradz, as well as portions of the former provinces of Skierniewice, Płock, Częstochowa, Radom, Kalisz, and Konin. The provincial capital is Łódź. Area 7,035 square miles (18,219 square km). Pop. (2011) 2,538,677.
