Worthington, city, Franklin county, central Ohio, U.S. It lies along the Olentangy River and is a northern suburb of Columbus. Planned in 1803 by the Scioto Land Company, it was first settled by New England families led by James Kilbourne, who named it for Thomas Worthington, U.S. senator and governor. The city is the site of the Ohio Railway Museum (1948). Although the city is mainly residential, there is some light industrial activity as well as business offices. Inc. village, 1835; city, 1956. Pop. (2000) 14,103; (2010) 13,575.
