San Carlos, city, west-central Luzon, Philippines. It lies on a fertile plain about 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Lingayen Gulf.

Founded in 1587 by Dominicans, it was named in 1718 for St. Charles Borromeo. San Carlos was organized as a city in 1966. It is a pottery-making centre and also produces articles made from bamboo. Rice and corn (maize) are the major crops grown in the surrounding area. The city is situated along the main rail line south to Manila. Pop. (2000) 154,264; (2010) 175,103.
