Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Irish Dhún Laoghaire–Ráth ah Dúin, county in the province of Leinster, eastern Ireland. The county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown was created in 1994 when the geographic county of Dublin was split administratively into three separate units. It now constitutes the southern component of the Greater Dublin metropolitan area. Dún Laoghaire is the county seat.
The county is bordered by the city of Dublin to the north, the Irish Sea to the east, and Counties Wicklow to the south and South Dublin to the west. Dún Laoghaire town, a suburban community on a rail line from Dublin, is also a coastal resort with a fine harbour constructed in the first half of the 19th century. Area 49 square miles (126 square km). Pop. (2002) 191,792; (2011) 206,261.
