Diviner's sage

diviner’s sage, (Salvia divinorum), also called salvia, sage of the diviners, or seer’s sage, hallucinogenic plant of the mint family (Lamiaceae) endemic to the highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico. Diviner’s sage has a long history of use by Mazatec shamans of northern Oaxaca, who ingest its fresh leaves or leaf preparations for spiritual rituals and healing ceremonies, and as a medicinal herb. Since the late 20th century the plant has grown in popularity as a hallucinogen outside of its traditional uses, and the drug is legal in many places.
