Singapore Strait

Singapore Strait, channel extending for 65 miles (105 km) between the Strait of Malacca (west) and the South China Sea (east). The strait is 10 miles (16 km) wide and lies between Singapore Island (north) and the Riau Islands (south), part of Indonesia. It includes Johore Strait (q.v.), Keppel Harbour, and many small islands. As the deepwater approach to the port of Singapore, the strait is one of the world’s busiest commercial routes.
